How should Muslims respond to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East?

The Prophet ﷺ gave precise guidance for times of tribulation: hold to the Quran and Sunnah, avoid sectarian division, make du'a, support the oppressed through lawful means, maintain your own worship and character, and do not let global events consume you into despair or rage. Islam does not ask believers to be passive spectators, but it equally forbids reckless emotionalism that causes more harm than good. Clarity, patience, and principled action are the prophetic model.

What is dhikr in Islam and how does it help with stress and anxiety?

Dhikr (Arabic: ذِكْر — remembrance of Allah) refers to the verbal, mental, and physical acts of remembering Allah — phrases like *SubhanAllah* (Glory be to Allah), *Alhamdulillah* (Praise be to Allah), *Allahu Akbar* (Allah is Greatest), and *La ilaha illa Allah* (There is no god but Allah). The Quran states explicitly: *'Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.'* (Ar-Ra'd 13:28). Dhikr is Islam's prescription for the anxiety, restlessness, and emptiness that comes from disconnection from Allah.

What is Tawakkul in Islam — reliance on Allah — and how does it help with worry and anxiety?

Tawakkul (Arabic: توكّل) is the Islamic concept of complete reliance and trust in Allah — the conscious choice to do what is within one's power, then entrust the outcome entirely to Allah. It is not passivity or fatalism. The Prophet ﷺ famously said: 'Tie your camel, then put your trust in Allah.' Tawakkul dissolves worry at its root — replacing the anxiety of 'what if I cannot control this' with the certainty that the One who controls everything cares for you, knows what is best for you, and never abandons the believer.
