Aal-Imran

Translation

Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding.

Tafsir (Commentary)

This verse invites rational contemplation of the natural world as evidence for the Creator. The phrase 'uli al-albab' (people of understanding) emphasizes that Islam encourages intellectual inquiry and empirical observation as paths to faith, not blind acceptance.

Context of Revelation

Part of the concluding passage of Surah Aal-Imran. Aisha reported that the Prophet Muhammad would recite these verses while praying at night, deeply moved by their meaning.
