Sahih al-Bukhari — Hadith 4981

Narrated by Abu Hurairah

Translation

The Prophet said: 'There was no prophet among the prophets but was given miracles because of which people had security or had belief, but what I was given was the Divine Revelation which Allah revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will be more than those of any other prophet on the Day of Resurrection.'

Commentary

This hadith distinguishes the Qur'an as the Prophet Muhammad's enduring miracle. While previous prophets received temporal miracles (parting of the sea, healing the blind), the Prophet Muhammad's primary miracle is the Qur'an itself — a literary and spiritual miracle that continues to exist and can be verified by anyone across time.
